Less is More…
I love to capture images that are “pretty” but also those that evoke emotions, for me this is definitely one of the latter.
All about contrasts, this was taken on a day when most people would reach for the kettle and throw another log onto the fire. The weather was notably foul as I stood on a massive deserted beach looking out towards the Atlantic, waves roaring and with just some huge outcrops of granite, gale force winds and sea spray for company. If ever there was an environment to put day to day niggles into perspective this was it as I stood in awe of the breathtaking power of nature.
Black and white is the master of mood so it was a case of capturing contrasts in the rounded shapes of the solid rugged coastline against the seemingly smooth, flat surface and straight lines of the chaotic milky sea and foreshore as the oncoming sea raced furiously up the beach only to be blown this way and that before ebbing back to the ocean. The solid dependability of the cliffs contrasting with the transient, temporal nature of the wash.
Sometimes we need the wild things to remind us how fortunate we are.
